South Hiram Elementary PTC Minutes
January 5, 2012
Attendance: Melissa Buker, Tanya Eastman, Suzanne Day, Angie Berube-Gray, Laura Hasty, Kerri Adams, and Alison Stacey
1. Sundaes with Santa raised about $200. Send thank you notes out to Leslie Croteau's dad for donating all the ice cream materials. It was a great success! We want to expand and have the whole gym. We will also have a secret room where children can buy presents for their family. It is a good time to pick up supplies and a Christmas tree.
2. Holiday Show selling concessions sold about $125. The hot cider and hot chocolate didn't sell well. We will sell water next year. Individually wrapped things sold well and the popcorn sold well. Think about location for the table. If we put the cafeteria tables down in the lobby, we could put the concessions stand beyond the doors, so that people could get into the gym. We can make some bigger signs.
3. Late Start -- Some parents would prefer to have an early release on Friday afternoon once a month. Alison will take a proposal to the school board at the February meeting.
4. Scholarships -- Eli Thompson and Brittany Remillard were the scholarship awardees.
5. Movie Night -- We are watching the Smurfs. The flyer was sent out. 6:00 - 6:30 is settle in and get snacks. The movie will start at 6:30. We will have raffles. Allison will pick 100 bottles of water. Audrey picked up a Smurf game. Sue will pick up the movie. We will have the raffle tickets. We will be here at 5:30 for set up. Alison will check Old Navy. Angie will look for a book. Sue will make popcorn.
6. Fundraisers -- For next fall, we would like to do the Made in Maine. Angie will send the information to Melissa and Melissa will sign us up. We also might consider doing Flower Power Bulbs -- They are nice bulbs.
7. Sea Dogs Game -- Notices have gone home. The game is on Friday, May 18, 2012.
8. Indoor Yard Sale on Saturday, March 31. People can drop off donations on all day Friday. Angie will come and work. What is left on Saturday afternoon Laura will take to Goodwill. We will have a bake sale table and a cake walk. It will run from 9-1. At noon, everything becomes 1/2 off. No electronics! Children's room available for kids 10 and under while you shop. This will be manned by senior volunteers. We will have color coded pricing and check on how Line School has done it. We will sell hotdogs and popcorn and soda and water and coffee. Angie will do a flyer.
