South Hiram Elementary PTC Minutes

February 2, 2012

Attendance:  Melissa Buker, Amber Sturdevant, Tanya Eastman, Suzanne Day, Kerri Adams, and Alison Stacey

1. We discussed finances.

2.  Movie Night -- We had a great turn out.  Make it more clear that the refreshments are free.  It worked well having the popcorn in the hall.  Chairs in the back for parents.  The movie was a little long.  We want to continue this event.

3.  Skating Party -- Saturday, February 11 -- It is from 1-3 pm.  Set up will start at 12:30.  Angie's mom is selling hot dogs.  We need to check on outlets for the hot dog machine and the popcorn machine.  SVRC is allowing us to use their skates.  If we have some milk crates that we can have them for kids to learn to skate with.  Alison will get funds for the cash box.   We want to make sure that we make decisions as a team and it was unclear how we had definitely decided to do.  Sue will get popcorn bags.  Alison will ask Johnna about napkins and cups.  Amber will get ketchup and mustard.  Alison will get relish.  Angie will get the hotdogs and buns.  $1.00 for hotdog and $.50 for cocoa and popcorn.  Amber will check with her parents about donating hotdogs and hotdog rolls.

4.  Holiday Decorations -- we bought a tree and some decorations for next year's holiday events.

5.   Indoor Yard Sale on Saturday, March 31. People can drop off donations on all day Friday.  What is left on Saturday afternoon we will donate to Goodwill or the Cornish Clothing Barn. We will have a bake sale table.  We will not do a cake walk this year.  It will run from 9-1.  No electronics!  Children's room available for kids 10 and under while you shop.  This will be manned by senior volunteers.  We will sell hotdogs and popcorn and soda and water and coffee and breakfast breads and goodies.   Melissa will check with the Dough Boy about donations.   We could have a free pile.  The PTC members will save Hannaford bags.  We will hang up as many clothes as we can.   We will set prices at the next meeting.  We could do a cupcake musical chairs walk in the kid's room.   Amber will make cupcakes for the cupcake walk.

6.  Valentine's Day -- Kids can buy something at lunch and give a candy gram.  We will have a flyer.  Tanya will make a flyer and then we will sell them on Valentine's Day too.  It will be a dollar a "gram."  We will make sure that everyone gets something.

7. Fundraisers -- For next fall, we would like to do the Made in Maine catalog called Close Buy.  It is between 40% and 50% profit.  We will do this in September.

8.  Bulb Fundraiser, Flower Power -- We receive 50% of the profits.  For a $5.00 charge, the bulbs are mailed directly to the the families, so there isn't any pick up.  We will do it the first week of March.

9.  Field Day T-Shirts -- Tanya will check with the company that they ordered.  We will check about doing a white shirts with blue print.  We need more water stations.  There was a hurdle station.  We would love to see the day end early.  We would not like there to be a bounce house.

10.  Sea Dogs Game -- Notices have gone home.   The game is on Friday, May 18, 2012.
